문신(Moon Shin)의 작품 영역은 크게 회화, 드로잉, 채화, 조각으로 분류할 수 있다. 이 중에서도 특히 드로잉과 드로잉이 진화하여 탄생한 조각 작품은 서로 분리해서 생각할 수 없을 정도로 유기적인 관계를 맺고 있다.

문신의 드로잉은 완성된 작품인 동시에 조각을 위한 개념도인데, 작가 스스로도

“한 조각 작품을 제작하기 전에 나는 많은 데생을 한다. 그것들은 단지 선과 선들로 연결된 원, 타원 또는 반원만으로 구성된 것이다.” 라고 언급한 바 있다.

‘선에서 조각으로’展은

문신의 드로잉과 그것으로부터 탄생한 조각 작품에 대한 이야기이다.

Moon Shin’s artworks can largely be classified into paintings, drawings, color drawings, and sculptures. His drawings and sculptures, which evolved from drawings, are intricately connected to each other forming an organic relationship, so they cannot be viewed separately.

While Moon’s drawings are complete on their own, they also serve as conceptual drawings for his sculptures. The artist himself has mentioned, “Before working on a sculpture, I make numerous drawings. They solely consist of lines, circles, ovals, or semicircles created by connecting lines.”

‘From Line to Sculpture’ is an exhibition of Moon Shin’s drawings, as well as sculptures originated from those drawings.
