Lee Jing(1581~ ?) was born of a concubine of Lee Kyungyoon, a famous literary artist from the royal family, and became a painter in the national painting office. Known as ‘master hand in the nation,’ he won King Injo’s favor with his superb artistry. His expertise was in landscape of the Ahn Kyun and Julpa styles, and he also became known for lyrical Indian ink painting of flowers and birds. This painting shows his favorite subject, a hill with reeds by the water in the early winter. The regular and plain brush stroke and the form of the wild goose show the characteristics of Lee Jing’s works.
