Choi Book(1712~1786) came from the middle class in technical post, but he kept company mostly with Namin and Soron party literary men who were out of office. Since he showed excellence in poetry, painting and writing, he was regarded as ‘the master,’ next to Jung Sun and Shim Sajung. Whereas he was a free-spirited and unrestrained man, his works mostly are pure, mild, and graceful. His nickname came from his expertise in landscapes and the paintings of flowers and birds. Among some of the remaining small works of fruits, this painting shows a more elegant style with a tone of sketches from rough drawing.
