Sookmyung Cultural Volunteer

Introduction

As one of the leadership groups of Sookmyung Women’s University, Sookmyung Cultural Volunteers has been providing docent services for the museum since its launch in June, 2004. After completing a semester of basic cultural education, the volunteers self-manage the group under the leadership of the captain and the vice-captain through club activities, such as planning, training, and PR. The volunteers give customized docent tours to every age group, from youth to adults, as well as VIPs from Korea and overseas. They also assist various museum events including education programs.

Organizational Aims & Goals

Build Cultural Leader Image for the University	Provide advanced and unique culture and arts
Provide a Place for Culture & Art Activities	Serve as a model figure for the university‘s aim to give back to society Education for students and alumni who are aspirant curators or seeking careers related to arts management
Provide Cultural & Art Experiences	Set up a place for culture and art at the university and local society Provide cultural experiences to students and locals excluded from the art scene
Establish a New Cultural Infrastructure	Build a human-infrastructure among culture and art activists and planners Associate with education organizations and institutions Maximize the usage of cultural space within the university

Activities

Orientation/Basic Education	Complete Sookmyung Cultural Volunteer basic cultural education
Docent Activities	Provide professional exhibition tours for visitors
Personnel for Museum Youth Programs	Assist museum education programs
Personnel for Museum Events	Assist museum events including exhibition openings
